Coming on the heels of successful fuel testing programs with metrobuses in Washington D.C. and fleets in Denali National Park in 2004, Syntroleum is providing the Tulsa Transit metrobus program with enough ultra-clean fuel to operate one bus for about a year. The program is designed to gain public awareness of Fischer-Tropsch fuels and examine benefits for consumers.

Funding for the Tulsa Transit initiative in 2005 came from the U.S. Department of Transportation and included fuel testing funding for a demonstration program at Auburn University’s National Center for Asphalt Technology. The Integrated Concepts Research Corporation was the prime contractor and responsible for evaluating the fuel’s performance in the testing programs.

Additionally, Syntroleum was chosen as the official diesel fuel of the Pace vehicle for the 83rd running of the Falken Tire Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2005. The performance and durability of the fuel proved to be successful during the event.

Syntroleum is also working on its $2 million Phase II Department of Defense program for continued testing on its flexible JP-8 single battlefield fuel.
